In short
- You can change the course or school on your JAMB profile after your UTME result is out.
- In 2026, JAMB said to do it at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre. The window opened on 15 May 2026.
- In October 2026, JAMB's fees page listed a change of institution or course at ₦2,500, plus a ₦100 CBT service charge.
- Check that your UTME subjects and score fit the new course before you pay.

Why candidates change
Most people change after they see their score. If your score is below the cut-off for your first choice, you can move to a course or school where your score has a better chance. Others change because they chose the wrong course at registration, or because some schools only screen candidates who chose them.
Check these before you change
- Your four UTME subjects. The new course must accept the subjects you wrote. Your score is for those subjects, so pick a course that fits them. Check the subject combination for the course.
- Your score. Look at the cut-off mark of the new school and course. See JAMB cut-off marks.
- Your O'level result. The new course will ask for credits in certain subjects. Make sure you have them.
- The school's own deadline. Some schools need you to have them as your choice before their post-UTME form closes.
How to change your course or school
- Decide the exact school and course. Write down the full names as they appear in JAMB's list.
- Go to a JAMB-accredited CBT centre. The list of centres is on jamb.gov.ng. In 2026, JAMB warned candidates not to use unofficial channels, because of errors and fraud.
- Bring your details. Take your JAMB registration number, the phone number you registered with, and access to the email on your profile.
- Pay the fee. Pay the change of course or institution fee. In October 2026, JAMB's fees page listed ₦2,500 plus a ₦100 CBT service charge. Do not pay extra money to anyone at the centre.
- Check before it is submitted. Look at the new school and course on the screen. A mistake here costs you another fee to fix.
- Log in later and confirm. Check your JAMB profile to be sure the change shows.
When you can do it
In 2026 the window opened on 15 May, after the UTME results were out. JAMB did not give a closing date. In practice, a change only helps while schools are still giving admission. JAMB set these 2026 closing dates for admission:
| Public universities | 31 October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Private universities | 30 November 2026 |
| Polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education | 31 December 2026 |
The dates for the next session have not been announced.
When the school changes your course on CAPS
Sometimes you do not start the change yourself. A school may not have space in your course, so it offers you another course on CAPS. You see it as an alert to accept or reject.
- If you accept, JAMB's rule is that the school must admit you to the new course. You then do the change of course before you can print your admission letter.
- If you reject it or do nothing, you stay on your old choice.
JAMB says all admission must go through CAPS. A school should not make you change course outside CAPS. If you accept a change on CAPS, JAMB treats it as your own choice, so think before you click. Read how JAMB CAPS works.
Other details you can correct
JAMB's fees page lists the same fee, ₦2,500 plus ₦100, for correcting your name, date of birth, state or LGA, gender, or A'level qualification. Your name and date of birth come from your NIN, so fix any error with NIMC first.
Common problems
- The change does not show on your profile. Give it a day, then log in again. If it still does not show, go back to the centre with your payment details.
- You changed to a course that needs a subject you did not write. The school cannot admit you to it. You will need another change.
- The centre asks for more than the listed fee. JAMB has warned centres not to charge above its prices. You can report the centre to JAMB.
- Someone offers to do it for you online. Do not give anyone your profile password or pay into a personal account.
