The JAMB mock exam
Skolra is not part of JAMB. For official news, see jamb.gov.ng.
JAMB has not announced the date of the 2027 mock exam yet (checked 23 October 2026). In 2026 the mock was on 28 March, about three weeks before the UTME.
In short
- The JAMB mock is a practice exam, held a few weeks before the UTME, on the same kind of computer screen.
- It is not compulsory. But if you choose it when you register, JAMB expects you to sit it.
- You choose it by buying the "UTME with mock" e-PIN. In 2026 that cost ₦8,700, against ₦7,200 without the mock.
- The 2027 mock fee has not been announced either.

What the mock exam is
JAMB says the mock gives candidates "the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Computer-Based Test (CBT) environment". You go to a real CBT centre, go through the checks at the gate and answer questions on a JAMB computer.
JAMB calls it an optional practice exercise. It has not said the mock score counts towards your UTME score or your admission.
Is the JAMB mock compulsory?
No. You can register for the UTME without it. But mock places are limited, so once you choose it, JAMB expects you to come. In 2026 it said all candidates who chose the mock were "required to participate", and that being absent would "attract appropriate consequences".
So choose it only if you can travel to your mock centre on the day.
How to register for the mock
There is no separate mock registration. You choose it when you register for the UTME:
- Get your profile code by sending NIN, a space and your NIN to 55019 or 66019.
- Buy the "UTME with mock" e-PIN, not the "UTME only" one. In 2026 the mock added ₦1,500 to the price.
- Pick a town for your mock at your CBT centre when you register, as well as a town for the UTME.
- Print your mock slip when JAMB opens slip printing. It shows your centre, date and time.
Read the full JAMB registration guide for the other steps.

How to check your mock result
Send MOCKRESULT by SMS to 55019 or 66019, from the phone number you used to register. Use the same number every time. A different number will not find your record.
Is the mock worth it?
For many candidates, yes. If you have never sat a CBT exam at a centre, the mock shows you the journey, the checks, the seat and the screen before the real day. If the centre is far from you, or the extra cost is hard, you can still practise the CBT screen at home and save the money.
How to get the most from the mock
- Treat it like the real day. Plan your journey, leave early and find the centre. Next time you will know the way.
- Watch your pace. Note how long each subject takes you, and where you ran short of time.
- Write down what surprised you as soon as you come out: the screen, the calculator, the noise, the checks.
- Use your result. Look at your score in each subject. Spend the weeks before the UTME on the weakest one.
- Do not stop practising after the mock. One sitting is not enough. Keep doing timed practice until the UTME.
Practise for the mock
The mock uses the same kind of computer screen as the UTME, so practise on a CBT screen before you go:
- Sit full timed mocks at home. Four subjects, 180 questions, 2 hours on one clock. See JAMB CBT practice.
- Learn the keys and the calculator. A, B, C or D to answer, N and P to move, S then Y to submit. See how the JAMB CBT works.
- Know the paper. 60 Use of English questions and 40 in each other subject. See how many questions are in JAMB.
- Follow a plan. Our 12-week JAMB study plan puts the full mocks in the last four weeks.
Common problems
- You forgot to choose the mock. The mock goes with the e-PIN you buy. Decide before you pay.
- Your mock centre is far away. The town you pick at registration is where JAMB tries to place you. Pick carefully.
- You cannot find your mock slip. Print it from jamb.gov.ng once printing opens. Bring it with you on the day.
- No mock result by SMS. Check that you are texting from the number you registered with, then try again later.
- A low mock score. It does not count. Use it to see which subject needs more work, then practise that subject.
