    1. A

      Correct
    2. B

    4. D

    Show answerHide answer

    Answer: A

The NCBWA struggled to achieve its aims at the outset primarily because it lacked mass popular support. The organisation was largely elite-driven — dominated by Western-educated lawyers, merchants, and journalists — and failed to mobilise the ordinary population of farmers, traders, and workers. The British colonial authorities also refused to take its petitions seriously, partly because they could demonstrate that the Congress did not speak for the broad West African public.

  2. 2.The number of chambers in a bicameral legislature is
    1. A

    4. D

    Show answerHide answer

    Answer: A

The prefix bi- means two. A bicameral legislature therefore consists of two chambers: an upper house and a lower house.

In Nigeria, the National Assembly is bicameral — comprising the Senate (upper chamber) and the House of Representatives (lower chamber). A legislature with one chamber is called unicameral. No standard legislature has three or four chambers.

    Answer: C

The elective principle was introduced into British West African colonies following the First World War. The Clifford Constitution of 1922, promulgated for Nigeria, was the landmark instrument that first allowed a limited number of Africans to be elected (rather than nominated) to the Legislative Council. This reform came in the post-war environment in which colonial subjects who had contributed to the war effort began pressing for greater political participation.
