108 Underage UTME Candidates Meet All Admission Criteria

108 underage candidates met every requirement for possible tertiary admission after sitting the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
Underage candidates needed a minimum of 320 marks out of 400 on the 2026 UTME to be eligible. Only 391 underage candidates reached that score. They also needed to obtain at least 80 percent in post-UTME examinations and meet the required O-level results.
An additional screening was required to confirm psychological, emotional, and intellectual readiness for tertiary education.
The 2026 UTME saw 2,244,149 registrations, with 2,174,396 candidates actually taking the test. Approximately 39,000 candidates who took the 2026 UTME were below the minimum admission age of 16. The government sets 16 years as the minimum admission age for tertiary institutions.
