FUTO gets 758.44 million Naira federal intervention fund

According to reports, FUTO received 758.44 million Naira from the 38.93 billion Naira Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund given to public tertiary schools. We have not yet seen an official notice from FUTO.

Reports on 30 September 2026 showed that the money came under an agreement between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The total money went to 166 schools, which included 79 universities, 46 polytechnics and 41 colleges of education. Universities got 28.50 billion Naira, polytechnics took 5.76 billion Naira, while colleges of education received 4.67 billion Naira. The money is meant to fix bad facilities, boost teaching setups and sponsor approved works.

Prof. Ikechukwu Nosike Dozie started work as the 9th main Vice-Chancellor of the school in June 2026 and began reaching out to federal offices to build up the institution. On 30 September 2026, he went to Abuja to meet the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund. Earlier in July 2026, he went to the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency to ask for help on the bad road leading to the campus, and the agency promised to send technicians to inspect it.

The school explained that the 758.44 million Naira will help push its six-point plan for better structures, research, digital growth, partnerships and leadership.
