- AVoting rights at the company's annual general meeting
- BA fixed rate of interest as a creditor of the companyCorrect
- CA fixed rate of dividend as a part-owner of the company
- DA variable share of the company's profit
Show answerHide answer
Answer: B
A debenture holder is a creditor, not a shareholder, and is entitled to a fixed rate of interest on the loan given to the company, regardless of profit.

Find the probability that a number selected at random from 40 to 50 is a prime
- A3/11Correct
- B4/11
- C2/11
- D3/10
Show answerHide answer
Answer: A
Numbers from 40 to 50 inclusive: 11 numbers.
Primes among them: 41, 43, 47 (3 numbers).
P(prime) = 3/11. - A

3.Cross elasticity of demand can be mathematically expressed as the
- Apercentage change in quantity supplied divided by percentage change in price
- Bpercentage change in quantity demanded of good X divided by the percentage change in price of good YCorrect
- Cpercentage change in price divided by percentage change in quantity demanded
- Dpercentage change in quantity demanded divided by percentage change in income
Show answerHide answer
Answer: B
Cross elasticity of demand measures how the quantity demanded of one good responds to a price change in a related good, expressed as %Δ quantity demanded of X ÷ %Δ price of Y.
- A

4.
Given that I3 is a unit matrix of order 3, find | I3 |
- A9
- B0
- C3
- D1Correct
Show answerHide answer
Answer: D
The identity matrix has 1's on the leading diagonal and 0's elsewhere, so its determinant is always 1, regardless of order.
- A
-
5.Deflation is a persistent fall in the general price level and is usually caused by
- AA rise in production costs
- BAn increase in the money supply
- CExcessive government borrowing
- DA reduction in the money supply and/or a fall in aggregate demandCorrect
Show answerHide answer
Answer: D
Deflation, a persistent fall in the general price level, is usually caused by a contraction in the money supply or a decline in aggregate demand relative to output.

A rectangular metal block of volume 10 - 6m3 at 273 K is heated to 573 K. If its coefficient of linear expansion is 12 x 10 - 5/K, what is the percentage change of its volume?
- A32.4%
- B1.08%
- C3.6%
- D10.8%Correct
Show answerHide answer
Answer: D
The coefficient of volume (cubic) expansion is about three times the linear expansivity: γ = 3α = 3 × 12×10−5 = 3.6×10−4 /K. The temperature rise is ΔT = 573 − 273 = 300 K, so the fractional volume change is γΔT = 3.6×10−4 × 300 = 0.108, i.e. a 10.8% increase in volume.

7.Which is the largest gland in the human body?
- ASalivary gland
- BLiverCorrect
- CPancreas
- DThyroid gland
Show answerHide answer
Answer: B
The liver is the largest gland in the human body, weighing about 1.4–1.5 kg in an adult. It is also the largest internal organ, and it works as a gland because it secretes bile, which helps digest fats.
So remember: for "largest gland in the body" with no qualifier, the answer is always the liver.

8.In which city does the White Nile meet the Blue Nile?
- ACairo
- BJuba
- CKhartoumCorrect
- DAswan
Show answerHide answer
Answer: C
Khartoum is correct. Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, sits exactly at the point where the White Nile (coming from the Great Lakes region of East Africa) and the Blue Nile (coming from Lake Tana in Ethiopia) join together. From Khartoum northward, the combined river is known simply as "the Nile".
So remember the simple geography: Blue Nile + White Nile meet at Khartoum, and that merged river then flows on through Egypt.

9.Find the sum to infinity of the following series
- A2/11
- B2/9Correct
- C1/5
- D1/4
Show answerHide answer
Answer: B
This is a geometric series with a = 0.2 and r = 0.1.
Sum to infinity = a/(1-r) = 0.2/0.9 = 2/9, the fourth option.
- A
-
10.Which of the following minerals contains fluorine as one of its constituent elements?
- AGalena
- BFluorsparCorrect
- CHaematite
- DBauxite
Show answerHide answer
Answer: B
Fluorspar (calcium fluoride, CaF₂) is the principal natural mineral source of fluorine.
Bauxite is a source of aluminium, haematite is an iron ore, and galena is a lead ore — none of these contain fluorine.
- A
