1.Which of the following angles cannot be constructed using a protractor, a compass, and a sharpened pencil?
- A41¼°
- B26⅔°Correct
- C22½°
- D33¾°
Show answerHide answer
Answer: B
Look carefully at the instruments you are given. A protractor is marked in whole degrees, so it can lay off any whole number of degrees. A pair of compasses adds only one extra power: it can bisect an angle, and you may bisect again and again.
So every angle you can produce with this set must be a whole number of degrees, or a half, a quarter, an eighth of a whole number of degrees — never a third.

2.What colour has the lowest frequency in the spectrum of white light?
- ARedCorrect
- BYellow
- CViolet
- DBlue
Show answerHide answer
Answer: A
When white light passes through a prism, it splits into the familiar band of colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet (ROYGBIV).
Since the speed of light in a given medium is constant, frequency and wavelength are inversely related. Red light has the longest wavelength in the visible spectrum, which means it has the lowest frequency.
So the colour with the lowest frequency in the spectrum of white light is red.

3.Commercial deodorant is an example of a colloid called
- AGel
- BFoam
- CAerosolCorrect
- DEmulsion
Show answerHide answer
Answer: C
A colloid is classified by the physical states of its two phases: the dispersed phase (the substance spread out) and the dispersion medium (the substance it is spread through).
A commercial deodorant, like an insecticide or hair spray, is packaged so that it releases fine liquid droplets dispersed in a gas. This liquid-in-gas colloid is called an aerosol, and it is correct here.

4.When calyx of a flower is joined together, it is called
- AGamosepalousCorrect
- BPolysepalous
- CPolypetalous
- DGamopetalous
Show answerHide answer
Answer: A
The calyx is made up of the sepals of a flower. When the sepals are fused together into one unit, this condition is called gamosepalous.
If the sepals are separate and not joined, the calyx is described as polysepalous instead — the opposite condition, and a common mix-up.

6.From the novel; The experience of the persona in Eliot's "The Journey of the Magi" is
- AA leisurely and comfortable royal excursion free of hardship
- BA brief errand quickly forgotten once the persona returns home
- CA physically gruelling journey that ends in spiritual disillusionment and alienationCorrect
- DA triumphant military conquest celebrated by the persona's own people
Show answerHide answer
Answer: C
In "The Journey of the Magi," the persona (one of the Magi) narrates a dramatic monologue looking back on the trip to Bethlehem. The journey itself is described as harsh: "A cold coming we had of it, / Just the worst time of the year," with sick camels, unfriendly towns, and voices whispering that the whole thing was "folly." This rules out any option describing the trip as comfortable or leisurely.
So the physically gruelling journey followed by spiritual disillusionment and alienation is correct. A comfortable excursion contradicts the poem's opening hardship; a military conquest misreads the peaceful pilgrimage entirely; and a "quickly forgotten" trip ignores the persona's lasting unease at the poem's end.

7.A firm will shut down in the long run if its earning is
- Agreater than average fixed cost
- Bless than average variable cost
- Cequal to average revenue
- Dless than average total costCorrect
Show answerHide answer
Answer: D
In the long run, all costs are variable — a firm has time to sell its plant, end its lease, and completely leave the industry. Because of this, a firm will shut down permanently if its earning (average revenue) is less than its average total cost, meaning it is not even covering the full cost of staying in business, both fixed and variable costs together.
So the correct completion is: a firm will shut down in the long run if its earning is less than average total cost.

9.Musa entered into a contract to supply two cows to Aro. Before the agreed date of supply and without the knowledge of the two
parties, thieves stole the cows. This is an example of termination of contract by- AFrustrationCorrect
- BBreach of contract
- CLapse of time
- DMutual agreement
Show answerHide answer
Answer: A
Frustration occurs when an unforeseen event beyond the control of both parties makes contract performance impossible. The theft of the cows before delivery, unknown to both parties, frustrates the contract and automatically discharges both parties from their obligations.

10.Suspense account is used in the correction of
- Acompensating errors in the ledger accounts
- Berrors of principle in the ledger accounts
- Cerrors that affect the agreement of the trial balanceCorrect
- Derrors of complete omission from the books
Show answerHide answer
Answer: C
A suspense account is only opened when the trial balance refuses to balance. The bookkeeper takes the difference between the debit and credit totals and parks it in a suspense account so that the trial balance agrees for the time being. When the errors are later traced, the correcting journal entries are passed through the suspense account, and once every one of them has been cleared the suspense account closes itself — its balance becomes nil. So the correct answer is errors that affect the agreement of the trial balance.
